DCM is a early stage technology venture capital fund based in Silicon Valley, China, and Japan. Since 1996, it has invested in successful companies like About.com, Sling Media (makers of the Slingbox), DangDang (Amazon of China), and Renren (Facebook of China). More recently, DCM, in conjunction with its partners KDDI (2nd largest carrier in Japan), GREE (one of the largest mobile social networking platforms in Japan), and Tencent (one of the largest social networking platforms in  China) announced the App Fund, targeted at the interesting opportunities made available by the Android platform.

 

Jason’s Bio:

Jason Krikorian brings an entrepreneur’s perspective to DCM and its portfolio companies. Before joiningDCM as a General Partner, Jason co-founded Sling Media, the pioneering digital media and device company. Among its many accolades, Sling Media received an Emmy Award for the Slingbox, the device that first introduced the world to the concept of placeshifting. Sling Media was acquired by EchoStar in October 2007.

As Co-Founder of Sling Media, a DCM portfolio company, Jason headed many functions across the organization. Jason acted as EVP of Business Development, EVP of Marketing, and CFO at various points in the evolution of Sling Media. Among other things, Jason led the establishment of distribution and development partnerships with global television, broadband and mobile operators. The breadth of his responsibilities reflects the wide range of expertise required of an entrepreneur and Jason’s capacity to guide portfolio companies across many areas of their businesses.

Prior to co-founding Sling Media, Jason acted as Partner in id8 Group Holdings, Inc. With id8 Group,Jason advised global leading companies on product and business strategy. His areas of focus included digital media devices and services, and mobile device platforms. Jason also drove business development activities for id8 Group.

Jason joined id8 Group after spending several years in management consulting with The Boston Consulting Group (BCG). While at BCG, Jason advised Fortune 500 clients in the retail, automotive, and utilities sectors. His work there spanned many areas, from retail inventory management to the creation of ecommerce strategies.

Prior to BCG, Jason worked in corporate securities law at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, where he assisted in the execution of numerous initial public offerings, acquisitions, and private placements.

Living and working in a Stanford-dominated area, Jason and his wife Jen count themselves as proud alumni of the University of California, where Jason was a member of the nationally-ranked NCAA swim team.
